Statement from NYCEDC President James Patchett on the City Council Land Use Committee Vote to Rezone Greater East Midtown
“The Greater East Midtown rezoning plan is a game-changer for our city’s economy. By creating new and modern space to attract the jobs of the future, the rezoning delivers on a key component of New York Works, our strategy to create 100,000 good-paying jobs over the next decade. Today’s approval is a major step, and we look forward to a vote by the full City Council next week. Congratulations to Council Member Dan Garodnick, Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer and the Department of City Planning for their work in bringing the proposal to this milestone. We believe this plan will spur a whole new era of accessible job growth for New Yorkers," said NYCEDC President James Patchett.
