The future of NYC's fashion manufacturing is bright.

In the December episode of our Meet the Makers podcast series, Miquela Craytor, the director of the Industrial Desk, sits down with Bob Bland, the founder of Manufacture NY, a fashion design and production incubator for independent designers.

Meet the Makers is a podcast series that shares the stories of manufacturers who live and work right here in NYC.

Manufacture NY and Salmar Properties recently announced the creation of the Fashion Manufacturing Hub in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, with $3.5 million in financial assistance from NYCEDC.

The Hub will provide 160,000 square feet of research, design, development, and manufacturing space for New York’s emerging designers and apparel manufacturers, producing nearly 300 jobs and tech training for 20-30 businesses, including designers, manufacturers and producers. Manufacture NY currently operates completely out of the Hub.

Listen to Manufacture NY’s incredible story directly from Bob to hear about their beginnings as a small, fashion start-up incubator in the Garment district. The podcast was recorded in August 2014 shortly before Manufacture NY's move to Sunset Park.
