Panorama Windows was founded in 1978 and in time relocated to the South Bronx. Over the years their business grew and Panorama wanted to expand their line of high quality windows by purchasing an unused Department of Sanitation street sweeping garage. However, the building had leaking underground gas tanks, a roof that was falling in, and asbestos contamination.
With the help of NYCIDA, Panorama acquired the property and renovated it by participating in the IDA’s “Straight Lease Program.” Panorama did the environmental changes necessary to convert the property into a functioning, modern window factory employing local residents, paying good wages with health insurance and other benefits. The net effect was that by working with the IDA, Panorama was able to improve the property, add jobs, and generated increased revenues for itself and the City - a true “win-win” situation all around.
