Spring 2015 NYC Tech Talent Draft

On March 6th, NYCEDC and Uncubed hosted 107 students from NYC universities for a full day of startup tours, including stops at Control GroupJustworksKarma, and Oscar. Special thanks to IBM Watson for hosting the entire group for interactive tours, product demos, and a closing reception! Students who went on the tours were also invited to attend the Uncubed job fair on May 8 at NYC's Metropolitan Pavilion, where they listened to talks and panels, participated in interactive workshops, and met over 90 exhibiting companies.

NYCEDC also hosted an on-campus event at BMCC open to students throughout the CUNY system, featuring AlleyWatchArtsyDreamFuelFoodtoEatKickstarter, and Kinvolved.

On April 23, NYCEDC hosted a virtual panel featuring expert recruiters from SumAllTrelloSwitchLiquidTalent, and ChatID, sharing their tips and tricks for students entering the NYC tech job search. Watch it here >>

Fall 2014 NYC Tech Talent Draft

On November 13th and 14th, NYCEDC and Uncubed hosted 85 students from 32 universities nationwide for a two-day tech trek, including a full day at Uncubed and a full day of startup tours. tour stops included the offices of BookerSpringArtsyGust, and more. Special thanks to Shutterstock for hosting the entire group in their Empire State Building office for a tour and closing reception!

Fall on-campus events included visits to CUNY, Columbia, Cornell, Penn, Princeton, and Brown with companies including CasperKnewtonBirchboxMakerbotSplash, and Baublebar. A December virtual panel featured executives from BlinkbuggyBow & DrapeChatIDFoodtoEat, and Preo.

Spring 2014 NYC Tech Talent Draft

On April 17th, NYCEDC and Wakefield hosted 100 students from Stony Brook University, University of Maryland, Kent State University, and Boston University for a two-day tech trek, including a full day at Wakefield's Uncubed and a full day of startup tours. Tour stops included the offices of ShapewaysGiltBirchboxControl GroupShutterstockAmplify, and more.

On April 2nd, NYC Tech Talent Draft live streamed a Virtual Panel via Google Hangout. During the lively discussion, the following startup founders talked about their own startups and the scene in NYC:

  • Alexa Hirschfeld, Chief Product Officer and Co-Founder at Paperless Post
  • Dan Herman, CEO and Co-Founder at ChatID
  • Nick Ganju, CTO and Co-Founder at ZocDoc

NYCEDC also hosted a virtual panel in February featuring executives from MOATFoodtoEatSeatGeekArkadium, and the NY Tech Meetup.
