NYCEDC and Formula E Announce 1,000 Complimentary Passes Available for Community Members for 2nd NYC E-Prix
NYC E-Prix taking place across two days on July 14th and 15th at Brooklyn Cruise Terminal in Red Hook
Red Hook, NY –– New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) and the ABB FIA Formula E Championship today announced that 1,000 complimentary passes will be available for community members to attend this year’s Qatar Airways New York City E-Prix at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal on July 14th and 15th. The complimentary passes provide access to the Allianz E-Village - an entertainment area for fans of all ages to watch the race, meet drivers, play race simulators, and listen to live music.
The New York City E-Prix double-header is part of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship, the world’s first fully-electric, international, single-seater racing series. The nearly 1.5 mile (2.373km) track will feature 14 turns and will wind its way around Pier 11 and the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal. The course will be entirely off-street, ensuring safety and minimizing disruption in the surrounding community.
“The incredible Formula E event wouldn’t be possible without the support of the Red Hook community,” said NYCEDC President and CEO James Patchett. “We’re thrilled that this year’s NYC ePrix will be free for a thousand community members to enjoy – all while showcasing local businesses and highlighting the latest in sustainable technologies.”
The NYC E-Prix will provide a unique opportunity to highlight sustainable technology, which is a key component of the Mayor’s commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in New York City by 80 percent by 2050 and ensure that New York has the best air quality of any large U.S. city by 2030.

In addition to providing complimentary passes to community members, Formula E has worked to provide additional community benefits, including:
- Investing millions of dollars in infrastructure improvements at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal and adjoining Red Hook-area piers
- Highlighting local small businesses and hotels
- Working with local community organizations to help engage youth around engineering, technology, and automotive trades
“I thank NYCEDC and Formula E for offering complimentary ePrix passes to Brooklynites, and I’m pleased that the People’s House can serve as a ticket pickup location. This race is a great opportunity to learn about the latest technology in engineering and the automotive industry, while bringing racing fans from across the country to enjoy a weekend of family fun in Brooklyn,” said Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams.
“The Formula E auto racing event in Red Hook is an exciting event – particularly because of its sustainable technology focus – and I am happy to see it return,” said City Council Member Carlos Menchaca. “Over the years, I have emphasized the need for careful planning when it comes to big events. Thankfully, we installed a traffic light at the intersection of Van Brunt and Pioneer Street this year, which should help with any re-routing and congestion. But we’ll still need constant communication about lane closures and alternatives routes for Red Hook residents and businesses, particularly for those who need to access loading docks and streets near the event. I am confident that the Economic Development Corporation (EDC) will do its best to communicate these changes and I promise Red Hook residents that I will monitor the event closely to bring any community concerns to EDC’s attention.”
“Thanks to the New York City Economic Development Corporation and Formula E for making 1,000 complimentary passes available to community members to watch the New York City ePrix at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal. Our residents will be able to visit Allianz eVillage and enjoy entertainment and learn about new innovative programs. I encourage everyone to attend. Brooklyn is on the move,” said Assistant Speaker Felix W. Ortiz.
"PortSide NewYork is thrilled to have Formula E bring the attention to Red Hook our community so richly deserves,” said Carolina Salguero, Founder and President, PortSide NewYork. “Get your race passes on our floating headquarters, the historic tanker Mary A. Whalen, next to the race course. While you are at it, give us your wish list of maritime programs to inform our plans to expand on site, or do so here. And let’s all work together to advance green energy!”
