#42 Subway and Bus Ridership in New York City

Data on subway and bus ridership in New York City for 2012 reveals the highest annual subway ridership in 62 years, increasing 0.8 percent over 2011 even with the impact of Superstorm Sandy.

While average weekday subway ridership rose 1.8 percent, average weekend ridership rose even faster (3.0 percent). In fact, weekend ridership matched the all-time high set in 1946 during the City’s recovery from World War II.
