Hunts Point Food Distribution Center: Development Opportunity for Food Related Businesses and Industrial Developers RFEI
New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) on behalf of the City of New York, is seeking qualified responses to this Request for Expression of Interest (the “RFEI”) for a long term ground lease opportunity to develop a food-related industrial facility on 7.5 acre site in the Hunts Point Food Distribution Center (the ”FDC”) in the Bronx. The FDC is the largest wholesale food market and comprised of over 115 public and private industrial food businesses with more than 8,500 workers. Annually, FDC distributes 4.5 billion pounds of food and serves over 22 million customers in the greater New York Metro region. The RFEI site is a premier development opportunity within the FDC.
NYCEDC plans to make selection on the basis of factors stated in the RFEI which include, but are not limited to: the quality of proposal, consistency with RFEI goals (including modernizing NYC's freight distribution network and creating good paying industrial jobs consistent with the Freight NYC Plan), project feasibility, economic offers to the City, experience and qualification of the development team, and proposed terms.
It is the policy of NYCEDC to comply with all federal, state and City laws and regulations which prohibit unlawful discrimination because of race, creed, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, marital status and other protected category and to take affirmative action in working with contracting parties to ensure certified Minority and Women-owned Business Enterprises (MWBEs) share in the economic opportunities generated by NYCEDC’s projects and initiatives.
