CDBG-DR funded Coney Island Creek Design and Related Consulting Services RFP

Submission Deadline
September 7, 2018 at 4:00 pm

NYCEDC is seeking a consultant or consultant team to perform design services for bulkhead repair and replacement and strengthening along the southern shore of Coney Island Creek in Brooklyn.  After citywide damage due to Hurricane Sandy in October of 2012; in 2013, the Special Initiative for Rebuilding and Resiliency (SIRR) Report made recommendations for the reconstruction and fortification of NYC shorelines to provide City-wide protection from future flooding caused by elevated sea levels.

The SIRR report recommended infrastructure and shoreline protection throughout NYC.  This RFP seeks a Consultant for infrastructural design and improvements to prevent the effects of sea level rise at the 2050 water level along a portion of Coney Island Creek.  NYCEDC, in coordination with the Mayor’s Office of Resilience and Recovery (“ORR”), seeks to repair and strengthen the existing bulkhead along the southern shoreline of Coney Island Creek, from roughly W. 12th Street to W. 23rd Street, as a means of preventing or minimizing flooding associated with future sea-level rise.

NYCEDC plans to select a consultant on the basis of factors stated in the RFP which include, but are not limited to: the quality of the proposal, experience of key staff identified in the proposal, experience and quality of any subcontractors proposed, demonstrated successful experience in performing services similar to those encompassed in the RFP, and the proposed fee.
