Government & Community Relations
The Government & Community Relations Department (GovCo) advances EDC’s economic development agenda by developing external relationships, managing the strategic implementation of projects, and building community support. Additionally, GovCo is instrumental in all visible EDC projects, working with departments across the company to: (1) ensure agency partners, elected officials, and community stakeholders understand and support EDC’s economic development objectives and projects; (2) align EDC’s economic development agenda and priorities with appropriate goals and objectives of the communities in which EDC works; (3) communicate with city partners (e.g., City Hall, city agencies, consultants, etc.), elected officials and key stakeholders so that EDC’s economic development agenda and projects receive primary attention from those entities and benefit from appropriate advocacy within various levels of government.

The Marketing team promotes NYCEDC, our programs, properties and initiatives along with promoting New York City as the premier place to do business.
The group also provides support for City Hall and various agency initiatives. Additionally, we work to enhance internal communications within NYCEDC.
Our efforts include building strategic marketing plans for projects such as industry and neighborhood initiatives, RFP marketing and advertising, maintenance of NYCEDC.com and EDCis, and promotion for NYCEDC-owned properties.

Chief Marketing Officer
The Public Affairs team oversees all external messaging involving NYCEDC. In collaboration with the Mayor’s office and every other department at NYCEDC, Public Affairs advances the City’s economic development agenda by stewarding an overall organization-wide narrative while promoting NYCEDC projects and initiatives to media outlets, civic organizations, and the public at large.
Public Affairs develops and implements a comprehensive communications strategy including media relations; development of written collateral such as press releases, media statements, Letters to the Editor, and op-ed columns; and press events. Public Affairs also manages all speeches and public events involving NYCEDC, writing public remarks as well as testimony before legislative bodies, while cultivating speaking opportunities that increase NYCEDC’s visibility and promote our agenda.
