Borough Overview

Home to nearly 2.6 million residents, Brooklyn is the most populous borough in New York City and host to a thriving art and cultural scene and a growing innovation economy. With as many as two hundred different languages and a population that is nearly 40% foreign born, Brooklyn’s diversity is a shining example of multiculturalism at work in the United States. With projects ranging from the Kings theater to Coney Island Creek to the Downtown Cultural District, NYCEDC is deeply invested in the future of this borough.
