Norwegian Breakaway's Christening in New York City

This week, NYCEDC and Mayor Bloomberg joined Norwegian Cruise Line and the Rockettes to christen the Norwegian Breakaway, the largest cruise ship ever to port in NYC! The enormous 4,000-passenger vessel with Peter Max’s signature artwork on its hull was a sight to behold at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal at Pier 88.

East River Ferry Survey

The East River Ferry, which recently hit the one million passenger milestone, is more popular than ever! Larger vessels now operate on the weekends to accommodate the increasing number of passengers. A new landing at Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 1 recently opened as another embarking/disembarking option. Locally-produced concessions are available on all the boats and are a favorite among passengers. Serving both commuters and sightseers alike, the East River Ferry has proven to be a valuable part of the New York City transportation network.
