In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, Water Street in Lower Manhattan struggled to recover from damage to office buildings, infrastructure, and public spaces. In response to these challenges, NYCEDC has laid out strategies to help put the district back on its feet, while laying the groundwork for improved, long-term resiliency and viability.
With the success of the first iteration of Take the H.E.L.M.: Hire + Expand in Lower Manhattan, we are excited to announce that we will be relaunching the program! To encourage the continued growth of Lower Manhattan, Take the H.E.L.M. will award four $250,000 cash grants and four $50,000 cash grants to companies looking to move or expand into Lower Manhattan.

Our new Take the HELM competition rewards and promotes new Lower Manhattan tenants that can bring the best and brightest employees; continue the re-branding of Lower Manhattan as a hub of innovative businesses; and diversify the economic base of this central business district, complementing the financial sector.
