Meet the Makers: Staten Island MakerSpace

staten island

Meet the Makers is NYCEDC’s podcast series that shares the stories of the next generation of manufacturers who live and work right here in NYC.

In the January episode of our Meet the Makers podcast series, we speak with the co-founders of Staten Island MakerSpace, DB Lampan and Scott Van Campan.

The 6,000 square-foot workshop on Staten Island's North Shore opened in 2013 with support from NYCEDC as a non-profit community co-working space for makers, builders, hardware developers, artists, and anyone with a curious mind who wants to make something.

Equipped with 3D printers, wood, and metalworking equipment, the makerspace is an entrepreneurial center that incorporates small business development curriculum, incubator, and accelerator programs to jump start ideas and projects.

You can have an artist on one side and you can have an engineer on the other side, and pretty soon they start talking and something new can come from that.

What else is going on at this local hub? Listen to DB and Scott explain how they are steadily working towards their vision of helping others pursue their artistic goals.
