Calling #NYCTech: Join us in Austin for SXSW!

As the nation’s fastest-growing tech hub, it is only fitting that New York City have a bold presence at the nation’s largest tech event.

This year, NYCEDC is partnering with New York Tech Meetup to coordinate the City’s official presence at SXSW, and we’d love for you to join us. Logo Design Competition

We’re hosting a design competition for the city’s official logo at SXSW and are accepting submissions until February 11. The winning design will be featured on free merchandise at SXSW and the winner will be featured on this blog and promoted on our official SXSW website. City 2.0: Why Local Gov is Betting on Civic Innovation
Saturday, March 14th – 3:30 PM – Austin Convention Center
By opening up data, adopting new technologies, and leveraging the talents of some of their most creative residents, urban leaders across the U.S. are embracing a new, tech-friendly era of policymaking. But can civic innovation solve real problems, or is this trend all hype and no game? NYCEDC has convened a panel that will bring together leaders from New York, Boston, Chicago, and San Francisco to discuss their unique and varied approaches, sharing best practices, pain points, and suggestions for how to take civic innovation past a pretty transit app. Read more>>

What Tech Startups Should Be Doing Next - Jessica Lawrence, New York Tech Meetup
Friday, March 13th – 3:30 PM – JW Marriott
As the Executive Director of NY Tech Meetup, a non-profit organization and the world's largest Meetup group, Jessica Lawrence sees the challenges that technology startups face and how they can easily slip into unhealthy patterns by following old models of business.
