Opportunity for Neighborhood Economic Excellence NYC logo

Opportunity for Neighborhood Economic Excellence (ONE) NYC is an NYCEDC initiative to lead campaigns and programs to advance economic opportunity, increase community wealth, and drive equitable economic development for all New Yorkers. ONE is a leader in:

  • Creating and executing economic mobility initiatives to support workers, improve workplace practices, and increase economic activity in neighborhoods.
  • Assessing neighborhood assets to foster community and private partnerships.
  • Providing expertise in equitable development to internal and external stakeholders.

ONE builds off the work of an effort launched in January 2013 through NYCEDC’s Leveraging Innovations and our Neighborhoods in the Knowledge economy (LINK) pilot initiatives. LINK was designed to strengthen skills and employability of low-income New Yorkers; to connect them with opportunities in the city’s knowledge economy; and to foster business activity that provides employment opportunities to those with less formal training, helping alleviate barriers to economic mobility.

NYCEDC, in partnership with other City agencies and with the help of community-based organizations, private-sector businesses, and the city’s residents, has identified challenges that limit upward income mobility for low- to middle-skill residents and workers. Key City partners involved include: the Young Men’s Initiative, the NYC Human Resources Administration, the NYC Office of Workforce Development, the NYC Center for Economic Opportunity, and the NYC Department of Small Business Services.

ONE continues to develop new initiatives that leverage emerging opportunities by better connecting workers to skills and jobs and supporting private partnerships.
