Proposed Living Wage Mandate: Summary of Key Findings

Charles River Associates (CRA) studied the impact of the living wage mandate proposed in New York City (NYC) (Int. 251-2010). They compiled comprehensive information on living wage laws in other cities, updated analyses to 2009, and simulated the impacts for NYC of the adoption of a typical living wage mandate which included coverage of recipients of business
(financial) assistance from NYC. Their report includes two primary sections: the first presents their model simulations on the impact of the proposed mandate on real estate development in New
York City. The second documents their findings for direct wage, employment, poverty and income assistance programs.
