In the summer of 2001, NYCEDC completed the Keyspan Ballpark (now known as MCU Park) project, a minor league baseball stadium in Coney Island located between Surf Avenue and the famous Coney Island Boardwalk.
Stadium development involved both the design and construction of the 6,500-seats facility.
The park is considered to be one of the best minor league baseball facilities in the country. The Brooklyn Cyclones minor league baseball team moved into the new ballpark after completion, marking the return of professional baseball to Brooklyn after a hiatus of 44 years.
