New York City Performs

NYCEDC has partnered with the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation to launch New York City Performs. NYC Performs is operated by a not-for-profit organization that provides performing artists with nontraditional performance space.

Arts programming for NYC Performs has already occurred at the following two sites:

  • St. George Esplanade on Staten Island
The Staten Island Creative Community organized the “Art by the Ferry Festival” during the weekends of June 5/6, 2010 and June 12/13, 2010 at the St. George Ferry Terminal Esplanade. The Festival featured musical performances, Taiko drumming workshops, Cirque du Soleil performances, as well as arts and crafts vendors.
  • Fulton Ferry Landing in Brooklyn
Fulton Ferry Landing was one of the sites for the “Make Music New York” musical festival that took place on June 21, 2010. Free musical performances were presented to the public.

The Downtown Staten Island Council presented “Summer at the Pier” at the former Lighthouse Museum in downtown Staten Island. The program, which spans June 5, 2010 to September 30, 2010, includes musical performances, outdoor movie screenings and art exhibitions run by community-based organizations. For more information, visit the Downtown Staten Island Council website or read press coverage on the program.
