Seth W. Pinsky, Chairman
Mr. Pinsky is the President of the New York City Economic Development Corporation. Prior to joining NYCEDC, he worked as an attorney at the law firm of Cleary Gottlieb, Steen and Hamilton and as a financial analyst at James D. Wolfensohn Incorporated. He is a graduate of Columbia College, where he majored in Ancient History and of Harvard Law School.
Amanda M. Burden (ex officio)/Barry Dinerstein (alternate)*
Ms. Burden is the Chair Commissioner of the Department of City Planning. She previously worked at the Center Department for Court Innovation as Director of Planning and Battery Park City Authority as Vice President for Planning and Design. She received an undergraduate degree from Sarah Lawrence College where she major in Environmental Science and a Masters Degree from Columbia University in Urban Planning.
Michael A. Cardozo (ex officio)/James McSpiritt (alternate)*
Mr. Cardozo is New York City’s Corporation Counsel and chief legal officer of New York City. He serves as legal counsel to the Mayor, elected officials, the City and its agencies and has held this position since January 1, 2002. Prior to becoming Corporation Counsel he was a partner at Proskauer Rose LLP where he was both an active trial lawyer and counsel to numerous organizations. He received his JD from Columbia Law School.
Marya N. Cotten
Ms. Cotton is an assistant professor of law at Baruch College – City University of New York where she teaches a variety of business law classes. Her research interests include social entrepreneurship, cross-sector partnerships, real estate, and sustainability. She received an undergraduate degree from Pomona College and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Chicago. She is also a LEED accredited professional.
Albert V. De Leon
Mr. DeLeon is Head of Compliance Advisory & Monitoring for Zurich Financial Services Americas. He is a graduate of The City College of New York where he majored in Political Science and Philosophy, and the University of San Diego School of Law where he received a JD degree. Prior to joining Zurich, Albert was General Counsel at Dexia Bank’s New York Branch and at Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken’s NY Branch; at each bank he was responsible for US legal, regulatory and compliance matters. He has extensive experience in the financial services industry, both as in-house counsel and as a consultant.
Joseph I. Douek
Mr. Douek is the owner of Willoughby’s Camera, New York City’s oldest photographic retailer. He founded a wholesale photographic distributor at the age of 19 in 1989, which grew to become one of the largest photographic distributors in the country, and purchased Willoughby’s in 1994.
Kevin Doyle
Mr. Doyle is Executive Vice President of 32BJ, the largest property services union in the country. 32BJ represents more than 120,000 property service workers security officers in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. To build the union’s membership and increase the union’s strength to win for members and their families, Kevin directs 32BJ’s growth program. He is responsible for directing the work of the local’s three regions to ensure that organizing, contract and political campaigns meet strategic growth goals and build union capacity. He started as an AFSCME member and union steward at Bridgeport Airport. He later joined Local 1199 SEIU as a Political Action Director, Vice President and Pension and Health Fund Director. He attended Fairfield University in Connecticut.
Andrea Feirstein
Ms. Feirstein is a Managing Director with AKF Consulting Group, which she formed in April 2002. Previously she was an investment banker with Citigroup’s Municipal Securities Division and she was a bond lawyer with Brown & Wood, now Sidley & Austin. She is a member of the College Savings Foundation and is active in the College Savings Plans Network as the Chair of the CSPN Corporate Affiliate Committee and a member of the Legal and Regulatory Affairs Committee. She also serves on the Board of the Corporate Affiliates of the National Association of State Treasurers. Ms. Feirstein graduated from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service and the University of Virginia School of Law. She is a FINRA-licensed Registered Representative (Series 7) and a Municipal Principal (Series 53).
Anthony C. Ferreri
Mr. Ferreri is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Staten Island University Hospital. An 800-bed, multi-campus teaching hospital, Staten Island University Hospital is the borough’s largest employer and contributes $320 million to that community’s economy. Mr. Ferreri is a graduate of Wagner College in Staten Island, where he studied Social Studies, and Rutgers University, where he earned his Master of Science degree in Human Resources and Industrial Relations. He is also a PhD Candidate studying Management at California Coast University in Santa Ana, California. Mr. Ferreri has gained extensive experience in business and leadership development during his 35 years of service as a hospital administrator and human resources executive.
Bernard Haber
Mr. Haber at the time of joining New York City Industrial Development Agency in 1986 was a partner and managing partner with Hardesty & Hanover, PC consulting Engineers, New York. He retired in 2001. He is a graduate of The City College of New York and received a degree in Civil Engineering.
John C. Liu (ex officio)/Carol Kostik and Ari Hoffnung (alternates)*
Mr. Liu is the New York City Comptroller, an independently elected official, who functions as the Chief Financial Officer of the City of New York. The mission of the office is to ensure the financial health of New York City by advising the Mayor, the City Council, and the public of the City's financial condition. The Comptroller also makes recommendations on City programs and operations, fiscal policies, and financial transactions. In addition, the Comptroller manages assets of the five New York City Pension Funds, performs budgetary analysis, audits city agencies, registers proposed contracts, etc. His office employs a workforce of over 700 professional staff members. These employees include accountants, attorneys, computer analysts, economists, engineers, budget, financial and investment analysts, claim specialists and researchers in addition to clerical and administrative support staff.
Matthew Mirones
Mr. Mirones is a former New York State Assemblyman, having been elected to serve three terms in the state legislature representing the 60th Assembly District. He has since returned to the private sector, where prior to his public service Mr. Mirones was President and CEO of Arimed, Inc. A graduate of New York University, Mr. Mirones is an American Board Certified prosthetist, orthotist, and pedorthist specializing in orthopedic rehabilitation. He is a past President of the National Pedorthic Association and has lectured extensively to the medical community.
Albert M. Rodriguez
Mr. Rodriguez serves as General Counsel for Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. In that role, he also represents Borough President Diaz’ on the New York City Employees Retirement System board of trustees and the New York City Franchise and Concessions Review Committee. Prior to serving Mr. Diaz, he was General Counsel for Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion, Jr. Prior to working in New York City government, he worked on Wall Street as a municipal finance attorney and investment banker for Brown & Wood LLP and Merrill Lynch & Co., respectively. In the 1980s, Mr. Rodriguez worked as a community organizer and youth employment policy advocate for the Youth Action Program in East Harlem. Mr. Rodriguez received a JD from Columbia University Law School and an undergraduate degree from the University of New Mexico.
Robert D. Santos
Mr. Santos is the Vice President for Campus Planning and Facilities Management at The City College of New York. He oversees all phases of facilities planning and capital projects on the CCNY campus and has managerial responsibility for Physical Plant Services and Campus Security. His career spans a wide-range of senior level appointments in higher education, cultural institutions, municipal government and construction. He joined CCNY from The New York Public Library, where he served as Vice President and Chief Operations Officer. Prior to that, Mr. Santos was Assistant Vice President, Operations with Lehrer McGovern Bovis, Inc. He holds BA degree from the State University of New York and a JD from University of Michigan Law School.
Robert K. Steel (ex officio)/Eugene Lee (alternate)*
Mr. Steel is the Deputy Mayor for Economic Development of the City of New York. He was previously Under Secretary for Domestic Finance at the U.S. Department of Treasury and from 2006 to 2008 served as chief advisor to the Treasury Secretary on financial and economic matters. Prior to that appointment, he spent 28 years at Goldman Sachs, ultimately rising to co-head of the U.S. Equities Division and Vice Chairman of the firm. He later co-founded SeaChange Capital Partners, a national nonprofit that helps nonprofits grow. After leaving the Treasury Department, Deputy Mayor Steel became President and CEO of Wachovia bank, leading its business-saving merger with Wells Fargo, and served as Board chair of the After School Corporation and the Aspen Institute. Deputy Mayor Steel received an undergraduate degree from Duke University and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Chicago.
