Our Planning & Development division provides urban planning, site cleanup expertise, interagency effort coordination on area-wide initiatives, maritime support, and includes the Coney Island Development Corporation.
Provides in-house consultation on urban planning issues (e.g. zoning, traffic) and takes NYCEDC/IDA through ULURP, CEQR and SEQRA processes. The department also provides technical expertise in site cleanup issues.

Coordinates NYCEDC and interagency efforts on area-wide initiatives to strengthen the City’s central business districts and increase public access to the waterfront.

Develops, supports and expands the City’s maritime, aviation and freight infrastructure. The department also promotes private ferry service and provides expertise and advocacy for transportation improvements that stimulate economic development and serve the needs of the City’s businesses, residents and visitors.

CIDC, established in 2003, is charged with spearheading and implementing a comprehensive planning process for Coney Island and creating a coordinated economic development strategy for the area.
