Senior Director, Center For Economic Transformation

Kristy Sundjaja oversees the development and implementation of citywide policy recommendations and programs to strengthen New York’s position in the fields of bioscience, fashion, media, and technology. In this role, she has spearheaded efforts to increase collaboration in the media industry between private companies and academic institutions with the creation of the NYC Media Lab and launched a comprehensive suite of initiatives to support the growth of the City's fashion industry, known as FashionNYC 2020.

Kristy’s efforts also include the City’s first-ever BigApps competition, a software application competition that garnered 85 submissions from developers in its inaugural year.

In an effort to attract and support startups, Kristy is also leading the launch of NYC Venture Fellows and a series of training workshops designed to teach business owners how to navigate legal and marketing issues to make their companies more successful.

Prior to joining NYCEDC, Kristy worked as an associate partner with the Media and Technology Practice for Oliver Wyman, a global management consulting firm. She has advised some of the world's leading media and technology companies, including IBM, Microsoft, HP, and AOL, as well as a number of private equity and non-profit organizations. Her consulting focus centered on creating growth strategies for new products and markets, developing multi-channel distribution strategies, and optimizing marketing spend, organization, and process design.

Kristy is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, where she studied at the Wharton School of Business and the School of Engineering to earn a B.S. in Economics and a B.S. and an M.S. in Engineering with academic distinction. She also holds an Executive MBA degree from Columbia University.
