New York Fashion Week is officially here!  The iconic semiannual event held throughout the city includes over 250 fashion shows and attracts about 232,000 total attendees each year. Did you also know?

• Citywide, Fashion Week generates $532 million in direct visitor spending per year, leading to $865 million in total economic impact each year.
• Collectively, fashion trade shows, events and showrooms generate over 578,000 annual out-of-town visits, accounting for 14% of all conventioneers to the City.
• New York City’s fashion retail market—the largest in the country—is growing at a considerable rate. From 2010 to 2025, it is projected that employment by clothing and accessories stores in NYC will increase by 17%.
• Leading “next-generation” fashion retailers, such as Gilt Groupe, Rent The Runway and FashionStake are headquartered here, adding to NYC’s innovative fashion start-up scene.
