The B&B Carousell is one of 40 historic properties in NYC that has been selected by the National Trust for Historic Preservation to participate in Partners in Preservation (PIP), a community-based program which provides preservation grants for local historic places.

Help B&B Carousell win preservation funds by voting every day from now until May 21^st on the PIP facebook page. One vote per day is allowed and the winning sites of this contest will be announced on May 22^nd.

This carousel has been an important piece of Coney Island history. It is the sole-surviving carousel from Brooklyn’s Golden Age of carousel construction (1800-1930s) when Coney Island had many carousel manufacturers and housed 25 hand-carved carousel attractions. In 2005 the City acquired the carousel, and it is currently in Marion, Ohio with a team of carousel restoration experts who are restoring the carousel to its original condition. Watch our time lapse video on the Restoration project. As Coney Island undergoes a huge revitalization, the carousel is an essential link between the historic amusement areas past and future.

B&B will return to Coney Island in 2013 in a newly constructed carousel pavilion that will be built in Steeplechase Plaza, a 2.2-acre public plaza that is also scheduled to be open for the 2013 season.
