INDUSTRIAL PROPERTY
BROOKLYN ARMY TERMINAL (BAT)

In 1986, BAT was leased by the City to NYCEDC for redevelopment. As such, NYCEDC is responsible for leasing, lease administration and the day-to-day management of BAT.

The 97-acre complex is located between 58th and 63rd Streets on the Brooklyn waterfront in Sunset Park.  It contains two major upland buildings, several ancillary buildings and one pier.

In 2004, NYCEDC completed the most recent phase of renovation increasing the total renovated area within the complex to approximately 3.1 million square feet.  An assortment of light manufacturers, distributors and financial back-office tenants occupy the renovated portions of BAT.

View the BAT website for detailed information, including leasing opportunities, about this property.

COMMERCIAL PROPERTY
STATEN ISLAND STADIUM

NYCEDC administers the lease with the Staten Island Yankees for the St. George Stadium and maintains the site’s esplanade. We also manage an agreement with a parking lot operator for the operation of the Stadium’s adjacent commuter parking lot.

125TH STREET PARKING GARAGE/PLAZA NINE

The 125th Street Municipal Parking Garage/Plaza Nine is a commercial parking facility between Malcolm X Boulevard (Lenox Avenue) and Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard (7th Avenue) that contains storefronts facing 125th Street. NYCEDC is responsible for managing the parking lot operator and administering the nine storefront leases.

JULIA DE BURGOS LATINO CULTURAL CENTER

1680 Lexington Avenue is a landmark former public school located between East 105th and 106th Streets in Manhattan. In 1996, NYCEDC completed $8 million of renovations to convert the approximately 60,000 square-foot building into the Julia De Burgos Latino Cultural Center. Upon completion, we began administering leases for space within the building and managing day-to-day maintenance and capital improvements at the building.

Since 1997, two floors in the building have been occupied by The Heritage School, a high school that is jointly administered by Columbia University Teachers College and the City’s Department of Education. The remaining space is leased to not-for-profit Latino cultural groups.
