INFRASTRUCTURE POLICY
TRANSPORTATION OVERVIEW
NYCEDC coordinates with City agencies on a variety of transportation services. We are committed to ensuring that transportation options most effectively meet the needs of residents and businesses. This includes maintaining existing systems and developing new transportation solutions that support our growing city.
MARITIME TERMINALS

Working in coordination with City agencies, our Transportation team manages the City's maritime terminals and freight assets.

The maritime terminals include:
  • Brooklyn Cruise Terminal
  • South Brooklyn Marine Terminal
  • New York Container Terminal in Staten Island
  • Manhattan Cruise Terminal

RAIL FREIGHT
In the area of rail freight, the Transportation department is responsible for developing and managing facilities throughout the city.

These facilities include:
  • 65th Street rail-yard
  • 1st Avenue rail in Brooklyn
  • The reactivated Staten Island Railroad

AIR TRANSPORT
To improve the City’s aviation networks the Transportation Department works with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to ensure that our airports, JFK and LaGuardia, are world-class gateways that are easily accessible both on the ground and in the air. Additionally, the Transportation Department is working to develop a comprehensive City policy towards commuter helicopter services.
