NYCEDC completed a renovation of the Battery Maritime Building (BMB) in the spring of 2005 in order to prepare the space for further development.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS
  • Borough: Manhattan
  • Architect: Jan Hird Pokorny Associates
  • Completed Spring 2005
  • $60 million approximate total cost
  • 140,000 square feet

The landmark structure is located on the southern tip of Manhattan adjacent to the Whitehall Ferry Terminal.

The updates to the site included the restoration and stabilization of the exterior facades and roof of the building. The BMB contains three ferry slips, with one slip reserved for private ferry operations and the other for service to Governor’s Island.
