Property Acquired within Coney Island�s Amusement Core
NYCEDC signed a property acquisition agreement with Ward Realty Corp. to acquire approximately one acre in the amusement core in Coney Island, Brooklyn. The Ward Realty Corp. site is located within the nine-acre area the City has designated to be mapped as parkland. The parkland will establish a base for developing new year-round indoor and outdoor amusement uses, while still maintaining Coney Island�s unique character. |

Fifth Agreement Reached in Willets Point Negotiations
MA Realty, which owns 44,500 square feet of industrial land in Willets Point, has agreed to have NYCEDC acquire its property. Under the City's plan, the land acquired from MA Realty will be remediated and prepared for a new mixed-use community that will include housing, restaurants, stores, parks, and a school. The project will also provide 18,000 construction jobs and more than 5,000 permanent jobs. |

Historic East Harlem Firehouse to be Redeveloped
The Franklin H. Williams Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute was selected to redevelop the 8,500-square-foot firehouse located at 120 East 125th Street in East Harlem. The building will include a caf�, shop, exhibition and performance spaces, media center, offices, meeting and community rooms, kitchen facilities and classrooms. |

Seeking Metering and Monitoring Data Communication Specialists
As part of NYC's long-term sustainability plan to educe energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions by thirty percent by 2017, NYCEDC is seeking a consultant team with experience in identifying and quantifying the benefits of metering and data communications. Specifically, the City seeks to increase its capabilities to meter, monitor, analyze and remotely control energy use in its facilities via an Energy Information System and/or an Energy Management and Control System. |

Helping to Expand Business in Brooklyn
Best Choice Trading Corp., a wholesale frozen seafood distributor located in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn, was approved for financial assistance from the New York City Industrial Development Agency. They will acquire, renovate, and equip an 8,750-square-foot facility adjacent to its current 19,840-square-foot facility. The expansion will enable Best Choice to double its workforce. |

Brooklyn Abolition Commemoration Proposal Selected
The Brooklyn Historical Society, the Weeksville Heritage Center and the Irondale Ensemble Project have been selected to memorialize the history of abolitionism, the anti-slavery movement, and the Underground Railroad in Brooklyn. The project will provide a better understanding of Brooklyn�s important role in the abolitionist movement through exhibitions, marked walking tours, a theater project and website. |
