NYC Named "The Best City To Do Business"
Foreign Policy magazine's 2008 Global Cities Index ranked New York City as the # 1 City To Do Business In out of 60 global cities. The rankings were based on: Business Activity, Human Capital, Information Exchange, Cultural Experience, and Political Engagement. NYC was lauded as being an "Open City" for its free press, open markets, easy access to information and technology, low barriers to foreign trade and investment, and numerous cultural opportunities. |

Five Additional Agreements in Willets Point
The City has reached acquisition agreements with House of Spices, Prevete Brothers, Parts Authority and others representing a total of 6.7 acres of land. These agreements are significant steps toward transforming Willets Point into an engine of economic growth and the first �green neighborhood� in New York City. NYCEDC continues to work to reach additional agreements before the City Council�s vote in November at the conclusion of the Uniform Land Use Review Procedure. |

Major Upgrades to Lower Manhattan Downtown Heliport
FirstFlight will invest $2 million in renovations to Lower Manhattan's Downtown Heliport facility to enhance safety and raise customer service to first-class levels. Improvements will include a state-of-the-art aircraft tracking system that will help to ensure that the guidelines established in the Environmental Assessment Study for the Heliport are enforced to minimize noise, a great concern of the surrounding community. |

NYC Assisting Non-Profits to Refinance Debt
The Board of Directors of the New York City Capital Resources Corporation (CRC) unanimously passed a resolution to amend CRC's Certificate of Corporation to allow the corporation to assist not-for-profit organizations to refinance tax-exempt debt. The amendment gives CRC the authority to assist with refinancing and ease debt service requirements which will help pave the way for many institutions, such as schools, hospitals, and social service providers, to navigate frozen credit markets. |
