Historical Mural Rededicated at Brooklyn Cruise Terminal

Members and supporters of New York City’s maritime community gathered at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal for a rededication ceremony for The Brooklyn Working Waterfront, an eight-panel mural that honors the people who made Brooklyn’s waterfront a vital part of the American economy.

Brooklyn Navy Yard To Get a Modern Makeover

The current plan for the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corp. is to spend $250 million in public and private money to add 1.3 million square feet of space and 1,500 more jobs by 2009. In a decade, there should be 5,000 more jobs. The continuing expansion of the Navy Yard will emphasize “green” construction.

Local Cultural Organizations to Redevelop Brooklyn Firehouses

The Brooklyn Philharmonic, the People’s Firehouse and Neighbors Allied for Good Growth have been selected to redevelop former firehouses in Brooklyn. The organizations are proposing a combined $3.9 million to redevelop the DeGraw Street and Wythe Avenue sites to serve as cultural and community centers as well as homes for the organizations.

Seeking Proposals for Alternative Fueling Facility in Hunts Point

The South Bronx community is taking a bold step towards making the Hunts Point area a national leader in clean technology. A fueling station with clean fuels for local truck fleets and recharging facilities for electric vehicles will create new ‘green’ jobs and reduce dependency on fossil fuels.

NYCIDA to Help Company Expand in the Bronx

New York City Industrial Development Agency (NYCIDA) approved financing assistance to a Bronx company, Gourmet Guru Inc. The financing assistance will help the company acquire and equip a new facility to expand its operations. The company will invest $4.9 million and will create and retain 65 jobs.
