Bronx Business District Poised for Growth
The Pearlgreen Corporation will develop an 80,000-square-foot industrial facility in the Bathgate Industrial Business Zone in the Bronx. The new facility will be an industrial supply warehouse and will integrate environmentally sustainable design principles. The project represents a significant investment in the Bronx and is expected to double the number of workers Pearlgreen currently employs. |

Gore Goes Green at One Bryant Park
Former vice president Al Gore's environmentally friendly investment firm, Generation Investment Management, will open an office in the 51-story Bank of America tower, a green skyscraper currently going up in midtown Manhattan. The 5,000-square-foot office will be on the 48th floor of the building, also known as One Bryant Park. The building is scheduled to open in May 2008 and is expected to achieve a platinum certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, the highest level available. |

$600 Million Project to Transform Lower Manhattan Skyline
Plans for a 63-story, 580,000-square-foot hotel and residential building at 50 West Street were approved by the New York City Council. The project will consist of a 155-room four-star hotel and about 290 residential condominiums and will be the first targeted LEED Gold Certified mixed-use building in Lower Manhattan. The project is expected to create about 740 construction jobs and 175 permanent jobs. |

Solar Panels to Illuminate Rockefeller Christmas Tree
The Rockefeller Center Christmas tree is going green this holiday season, with energy-efficient LEDs replacing old-fashioned bulbs and electricity generated from 363 solar panels. The solar panels, installed atop Rockefeller Center, will help light the tree and are also tied into the city grid. After the tree is taken down in January, it will be cut into lumber and be used to build houses for Habitat for Humanity. |
