NYCEDC Releases its Annual Review

The New York City Economic Development Corporation’s 2009 Annual Review is a comprehensive look at its accomplishments during fiscal year 2009 and how they have benefited and will continue to benefit the City and its people.

Expanding Opportunities for Start-Up Companies

Mayor Bloomberg welcomed the first 27 businesses to the City-sponsored 160 Varick Street Incubator and announced that the program will expand this fall to offer space to another 15 start-up companies. There are plans to create up to four additional incubators, which could house as many as 150 additional start-ups. There is currently an open RFP for space managers at the incubators. Breaking Ground on the East River Esplanade in Lower Manhattan

The $148 million first phase of the East River Waterfront Esplanade and Piers Project in Lower Manhattan is underway. The first phase – which will create more than 400 construction-related jobs – will transform two miles of underutilized portions of the East River waterfront stretching from the Battery Maritime Building to Pier 35 into pedestrian-friendly, publicly accessible open space. It will be completed by the end of 2011.

Stapleton Waterfront Development Plan: Investing in the Homeport

Ironstate Development Company will invest $150 million to redevelop the approximately seven acres of the Homeport in Stapleton, Staten Island. Ironstate will transform the decommissioned U.S. Naval Base site into a green development with approximately 800 residential housing units with new stores and a public plaza, creating more than 1,100 construction jobs and 150 permanent jobs.

JFK Site A - NYPD Vehicle Facility Relocation RFP

 

NYCEDC is seeking a consultant to provide construction supervision and inspection services for the Site A Facility – NYPD Vehicle Storage Project. The purpose of the Project is to relocate an existing NYPD vehicle storage facility from its existing location in College Point, Queens to the Project site.
