Lev Pharmaceuticals Completes $35 Million Offering

New York City based Lev Pharmaceuticals, Inc. recently raised $35 million, in addition to a $21 million private placement raised by the company last year. Most recently, Lev announced positive results from a Phase II Trial of Cinryze in patients with acute attacks of hereditary angioedema.

Advanced BioHealing Raises $25 Million

Advanced BioHealing, Inc., with R&D offices in New York City, announced a $25.5 million raise in a Series C round of financing. Advanced BioHealing is an industry leader in the science of regenerative medicine, focusing on the commercialization of cell-based and tissue-engineered products. Two of the company’s products, Dermagraft, and TransCyte, have FDA approval for marketing.

INNOVIVE Pharmaceuticals Closes $15 Million Equity Financing

New York City based INNOVIVE Pharmaceuticals, Inc. has closed a private placement offering of $15 million with Paramount BioCapital Inc. serving as the sole placement agent. INNOVIVE acquires, develops and commercializes novel therapeutics addressing significant unmet medical needs in the fields of oncology and hematology.

Nephros Raises $12.7 Million in New Financing

Nephros, Inc., a medical device company with U.S. headquarters in New York City, recently raised $12.7 million in financing. In October, the company began a pivotal human clinical trial for two of its medical devices at Columbia University, with additional patients being treated at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx.

Callisto Pharmaceuticals Raises $11.2 Million

New York City based Callisto Pharmaceuticals, Inc., announced a private placement B round of $11.2 million. Callisto's drug candidates include two anti-cancer agents as well as a drug for gastrointestinal disorders. Atiprimod, its lead drug candidate, is currently in a Phase II clinical trial in advanced carcinoid cancer patients.

Genzyme Acquires Bioenvision for $345 Million

New York City based Bioenvision, Inc. recently announced its acquisition by Genzyme Corporation. The merger will accelerate the clinical research of Clofarabine as a treatment for acute leukemia and will allow access to Clofarabine for physicians and patients in Genzyme’s distribution network.

NANIRX Relocates from New Jersey to New York City

NANIRX has relocated its operations to the Audubon Business and Technology Center at Columbia University Medical Center. NANIRX is an early-stage, biopharmaceutical company focused on developing technology to enhance the efficacy of existing monoclonal antibody drugs. The company’s core technology is based on twenty-five years of research by Dr. David Cohen, of the NIH HIV vaccine development committee.
