 NEWS HIGHLIGHTS

Seth Pinsky Named NYCEDC President

Mayor Bloomberg announced the appointment of Seth Pinsky as President of New York City Economic Development Corporation, filling the position vacated with Bob Lieber's appointment as Deputy Mayor for Economic Development. He has managed financial analysis and structuring for some of the City's major projects including Hudson Yards, the World Trade Center, Yankees and Mets Stadiums and Queens West. Prior to joining NYCEDC in 2003, Mr. Pinsky was an associate at the law firm of Cleary Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton in the Real Estate practice. Mr. Pinsky will oversee nearly 400 employees engaged in a wide array of economic development projects in all five boroughs.

Goldman Extends Lease at One New York Plaza

Goldman Sachs recently extended its lease for 517,000 square feet at One New York Plaza. The lease is for 15 months and will expire December 31, 2009, giving the company breathing room as it awaits the completion of its new headquarters in Battery Park City, scheduled to be completed by late 2009.

Historic Lower Manhattan Pier Ready for Restoration

NYCEDC has chosen the Battery Park City Authority (BPCA) to redevelop Pier A, the historic three-story pier located at the southern tip of Manhattan built in 1886. Pier A is a 30,000 square foot facility containing three floors of usable space.

United Nations Finds Temporary Home

According to Real Estate Weekly, the United Nations is negotiating a roughly 600,000 square foot lease at 380 Madison Avenue while the UN's East Side campus begins a major renovation. The space will be used to relocate as many as 1,700 employees from the organization's Secretariat Building, which is expected to complete renovations within three years.
