ASSET AND PROPERTY MANAGEMENT/CAPITAL PROGRAM
ASSET AND PROPERTY MANAGEMENT

Manages, maintains and leases over 20 million square feet of City property assets with the goal of maximizing return on assets. The department also manages and maintains assigned waterfront properties and provides Citywide quality of life services to eliminate blight.

CAPITAL PROGRAM

Channels capital budget investments into design and construction projects that support economic development in the five boroughs of New York City. The Capital Program Department contributes to NYCEDC’s broader mandate by providing the physical infrastructure, facilities, and amenities that strengthen the City’s competitive position and facilitate investments that build capacity within the City. CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS
GOVERNMENT & COMMUNITY RELATIONS

Acts as a liaison between NYCEDC and City, State and Federal elected officials, government offices and agencies, and community representatives and stakeholders to facilitate the achievement of NYCEDC’s mission. The department ensures that proper protocol is followed when communicating with elected officials, community representatives, the Mayor's Office and government agencies.

MARKETING

Promotes New York City as a premier place to do business and raises awareness of NYCEDC, our programs and our initiatives. FINANCE & ADMINISTRATION
ACCOUNTING

Provides timely, accurate and meaningful financial information and advice to NYCEDC and its related entities. Consistently demonstrating fiscal responsibility, the department also promotes the efficient use and stewardship of resources in compliance with laws, regulations and reporting requirements.

ADMINISTRATION SERVICES

Handles all daily needs of NYCEDC, including delivering mail, photocopying, maintaining office supplies, managing car services and providing general maintenance of office space and equipment. The department manages NYCEDC's fleet of vehicles and is responsible for security issues, including fire and safety, and the maintenance of cellular devices.

BUDGET

COMPLIANCE

Oversees certain NYCEDC and all NYCIDA Agreements, ensuring compliance with State and Local laws requiring detailed Annual Reporting. The department also manages and populates NYCEDC’s company-wide project compliance database.

MANAGEMENT OF INFORMATION SYSTEMS (MIS)

Seeks to align information technology (IT) with the goals and objectives of the organization, dispenses technical services and contributes to the strategic direction of NYCEDC. The department does this by keeping the infrastructure and environment in-step with technology, moving the software development to SOA (Service Oriented Architecture), integrating GIS into our software development process and working with external agencies on their IT needs.

GENERAL COUNSEL
LEGAL SERVICES

Supports the operation and projects of the New York City Economic Development Corporation, New York City Industrial Development Agency, New York City Capital Resources Corporation, Apple Industrial Development Corp., and Coney Island Development Corporation, by providing high quality legal counsel reflecting independent judgment and professionalism.

RECORDS MANAGEMENT

PLANNING & DEVELOPMENT
PLANNING

Provides in-house consultation on urban planning issues (e.g. zoning, traffic) and takes NYCEDC/IDA through ULURP, CEQR and SEQRA processes. The department also provides technical expertise in site cleanup issues.

MARITIME

Develops, supports and expands the City’s maritime, aviation and freight infrastructure. The department also promotes private ferry service and provides expertise and advocacy for transportation improvements that stimulate economic development and serve the needs of the City’s businesses, residents and visitors.

CONEY ISLAND DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION (CIDC)

CIDC, established in 2003, is charged with spearheading and implementing a comprehensive planning process for Coney Island and creating a coordinated economic development strategy for the area. The 13-member Board of the CIDC includes City officials, local and Brooklyn-wide business and community leaders, and area residents. Learn more at the CIDC Website.

STRATEGY & POLICY
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Supports the Mayor’s strategy of diversifying the economy. The department makes New York City more business friendly for new and existing companies in the City's five boroughs by encouraging investments and supporting job growth.

ECONOMIC RESEARCH & ANALYSIS

Responsible for analyzing the economic and fiscal impact of major influences on the City’s economy. These may range from significant events such as national political conventions to private development projects, City infrastructure investments and economic policy decisions. The department also publishes monthly reports on economic conditions.

ENERGY
Coordinates and addresses all energy-related issues on behalf of the City. The department is involved in planning for both short and long-term energy resources, developing energy-efficiency programs, fostering the market for renewable energy, advocating for competitive energy prices for all City consumers, managing energy supply discount programs and supporting the City’s response to proposed energy projects.

STRATEGIC PLANNING

Composed mainly of former private-sector strategy consultants and serves the function of an internal strategy group. The team conducts research and analysis, makes recommendations and builds consensus on a number of different economic development challenges that often involve the interests of other City agencies and the Mayor’s overall agenda.

TRANSACTION SERVICES

Provides project management and analysis for real estate sales, funding agreements, deed modifications, developer submissions, planning projects and more. The department also staffs the New York City Industrial Development Agency, which issues tax-exemptions and tax-exempt bonds for appropriate entities.
